Sriram has a Masters in Communication from the University of Hyderabad. He is a published novelist, short story writer, and screenwriter. Sriram believes that the study of story structure and genre is indispensable for a writer. The theory lectures of his courses introduce screenwriting concepts and practical classes emphasize the application of these concepts in student writing.
The ultimate goal is to help students achieve their writing objectives, culminating in a fully-formatted screenplay for their final diploma project. His work at RAFT has included conducting workshops and story sessions for industry and literary writers developing feature scripts for the Telugu film industry. In the academic year 2011-12, he played a key role in RAFT organising Robert McKee’s Story Seminar in India for the first time.
Sriram does scripting work for the Telugu film industry. His novel The Long Reverie of Partha Sarma was published by Penguin (India) in 2006. His short story, ‘A Matter of Faith’, was published in First Proof 2: The Penguin Book of New Writing from India (Penguin India). He is currently working on his second novel.
